A sheet of steel. A flat, cool, heavy and hard surface, itself an industrial product. Initially without function, without context, without attribution. Only the material and its inherent properties.
With the attribution of form, function and context, a shift begins. Through careful observation, the examination of properties, and experimental exploration, interactions emerge between the surfaces. Not by adding, but by making use of what is already inherent in the material. Stiffness. Weight. Friction. Gravity. Leverage. The sheets interlock, clamp, and hook together. They support and brace one another. From the material itself, a structure takes shape, a system, a shelving unit. Modules interlock to form a wall-mounted shelf, which can be extended, complemented, or reduced. A system that remains open to change and adapts to its conditions.
The fabrication follows the same principle of reduction as the concept. Two manufacturing techniques are employed, laser cutting and bending, to transform flat sheets of steel into self-supporting forms.

components: The shelving system consists of three elements, each available in different sizes: wall hooks, support profiles, and shelf boards.
